2012 Oil Creek Association Gathering Celebrates 200th Anniversary Of Judsons Mission

Oil creek Association celebrated the Judson Bicentennial at their Spring Association Meeting on April 29.
Rosalie Hall Hunt, author of the latest Judson biography, "Bless God and Take Courage: The Judson History and Legacy" (Judson Press 2005) brought the keynote address at the 2012 Oil Creek Association Gathering. Rosalie spent six years teaching and conducting historical research in Burma/Myanmar, where she walked in the footsteps of the missionaries and met with decendants of the first Burmese belivers and partners in the Judson Mission. A retired Baptist missionary, she has also taught in South Asia, Australia, Phillipines, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Hunt holds masters degrees in counseling, in English and in speech communications. She will also lead the Judson 200 trip to Burma in January 2013.
Burmese Karen living in Erie and the Tri-state area joined the celebration. During the gathering the congregation sang songs written by Adoniram Judson, were blessed by the Karen choir and a heard a song written by missionary Carmen Igo in honor of Adoniram Judson for the bicentennial celebration. The group learned how God has worked through time (200 years) and space (opposite sides of the world) to bring us together as one body of Christian belivers.
History and missions is the 2012 focus of Oil Creek Association. The congregation heard ofmany opportunities to support and become involved in hands on ministry here and abroad.
