FBC Pittsburgh Celebrates 200th Anniversary
On Sunday, April 22, FBC, Pittsburgh celebrated its 200TH anniversary. The weekend celebration began with a concert in their sanctuary on Saturday by the Pittsburgh Glee Club which the same group did one hundred year again to celebrate the completion of their present building. Pastor Gary Denning welcomed special guests including Dr. Roy Medley, General Secretary who provided the morning worship service sermon. In attendance as well was our own Ms. Denise Veselicky, our region's administrative assistant in the western office. Dr. Jeffrey Johnson brought greetings from our Executive Pastor and sister ABCOPAD churches, presented a commemorative certificate on behalf of the region, and provided the pastoral and anniversary prayer. Before the service, people gathered in the church's remodeled library and kitchenette to fellowship and view documents from the church's history. After the service, everyone gathered in the fellowship hall for a wonderful catered luncheon preceded by greetings given by neighboring congregations in and outside our denomination, some of whom FBC founded and one that helped to found FBC. It was a great day for everyone all the way around.
