And our shut-in’s and Caregivers
 

  The American Baptist Women of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield have been busy collecting things for 2 small Head Start families in the Mansfield area. We were given these two families and a list of possible items for the families. Most of the items on the lists were purchased and Donna Cummings, from Head Start, picked them up at the church on December 20th and delivered them to the families. She later wrote saying: ”Many thanks to you and the members of the Baptist church for the Christmas gifts for my Head Start families. There were lots of smiles from the parents as I delivered the goodies.” First Baptist also provided bags of non-perishable food items for these families for the Christmas holidays.

  First Baptist Church has also helped out at the Homeless Shelter several times providing the evening meal. Just before Christmas three frozen main dishes were provided by the church family for the shelter to use over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weeks. We will be providing another complete meal at the end of January.

  Each Year the American Baptist Women take goody baskets to our shut-in’s, nursing home members, and also to the Caregivers at the Green Home, Broad Acres and to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. It is our way of making their Christmas brighter.

  The Mansfield Community Bell Choir used their bell ringing skills to perform twice during the Christmas holiday Season. They first performed at the Women’s and Men’s Chorus concert on December 11th at the First Baptist Church in Mansfield and then again on December 14th at the “Lessons and Carols” service at St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield. The group is made up of members from the communities of Mansfield, Wellsboro, Covington, and the surrounding area. They have been practicing with Mitchell Sensenig at the First Baptist Church in Mansfield for several months. Mitchell is a Mansfield University Student in Music.   The Hand bells were originally donated to the First Baptist Church by Bertram and Maurine Frances. Bertram was a retired Mansfield University professor in the Music department and he and Maurine loved music. First Baptist Church is honored to have these bells and that they are being used “for the Glory of God.”
