The specter of nuclear war between the United States and North Korea. The aftermath of a deadly gathering in Charlottesville of neo-Nazis and white separatists and the people protesting them. Increasing public incidents of racism. A political system in seeming disarray.

Then there’s stress at work, responsibilities with family, church or other activities, and sometimes relationship “drama” or walking alongside a friend or loved one in their time of need.

Now, more than ever, finding peace in this ever-chaotic world can seem a daunting task. Is it no wonder that there are moments when we want to scream out, “Peace, just a moment of peace ... where can I go to find peace?”

A one-day conference hosted by First Baptist Church of Kennett Square seeks to provide some of those answers.

“Searching for Peace in a Chaotic World” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 7, and will feature community experts and FBC speakers.
  • You can seek, and share, peace by adjusting the way you view life. Throughout the day we will help you explore how to weigh expectations and communicate with others.
  • You will be taught practical steps on how to navigate various phases of life, from raising children to becoming financially secure to grieving the loss of loved ones.
  • Diversity, workplace issues, church, and community organizational life will be discussed as unique situations that may require a new approach due to their different dynamics.
  • We will address concerns that come with social media, a 24-hour news cycle, and other avenues of technological advance. You will be provided concrete ideas of how to find peace among the rapid changes in technology.

The conference is open to the community. Cost is $15 per person or $25 for a dual registration, and includes lunch.
