RIP - Bud Russell

 

It is with a mixture of fond memories and a tear (or two) that we announce the passing of Bud Russell's illustrious career as the ABCOPAD Web Coordinator RMA for the past 8 years. Bud's career passed away peacefully, surrounded by pop-ups and browser tabs, on December 31, 2024.

Bud's career was born in 2016 when he first logged in with his brand-new username and password. (According to reliable sources, he was hired for only 3 months during Mark Mahserjian-Smith's sabbbatical leave.) His days were quickly filled with HTML, CSS, and coffee spills. He bravely battled spam filters, wrestled with broken links, and tirelessly updated the homepage and Facebook posts with the latest breaking news. His passion for pixel-perfect design was matched only by his ability to break the internet (literally) on multiple occasions.

Survived by countless lines of code and a legacy of 404 errors, Bud's career was known for its witty email responses and innovative ways to avoid meetings. His greatest accomplishment, according to him, was single-handedly convincing the entire office that "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" is a legitimate troubleshooting method.

In lieu of flowers, please send Wi-Fi boosters and ergonomic keyboards to Bud, as he transitions to a life of leisure, where he can finally read those "Top 10 Church Websites You Won't Believe Exist" articles he's bookmarked for years. Bud will now dedicate his time to enjoying biking rail-trails and searching for the perfect GIF to describe his post-retirement feelings.

Bud's career will be greatly missed by his colleagues, but his puns and poorly timed jokes will live on in infamy. Rest in peace, dear career. You have logged out for the last time.
